I was pleased on Tuesday to hear both Carwyn Jones and Ieuan Wyn Jones outline plans to ensure the National Assembly has the necessary powers to make a positive difference to people's lives in Wales. That discussion and campaign will be very important after the election and an opportunity for Wales to move forward or slip backwards. It is crucial for all of those who see the benefits of a clearer, simpler, less bureaucratic system to make the case and to link that case to some of the benefits we will undoubtedly see in fields like education and health given the right tools.
My one concern at the moment is the attitude of the opposition parties. At this early stage it seems bizzare that the Liberal Democrats - a party of Home Rule - apparently, are willing to imperil progress. I do hope they see sense soon. I am less surprised at the Tories, though any sense that Nick Bourne's well thought through and seemingly genuine engagement with a more Welsh version of Conservatism could survive a negative vote next week is fanciful.
Now is the time for those of all parties and none to support a trigger vote next week, and post election for us to get together to put more of the building blocks in place to create a better Wales.
