On Monday evening, Dafydd Wigley and I will be hosting a meeting on the Future of the Valleys in Aberdare. I'd be very interested in people's views on the themes we should be addressing in the meeting on Monday evening. Building on our Cynon's Future work, and the thousands of surveys delivered, discussed and returned across the Valley a number of themes emerge:
A Wealthy Valley. Creating better job opportunities in the Valleys
An Educated Valley. Improving educational results.
A Green Valley. A range of policies including improving walking and cycling routes
A Connected Valley. Specific improvements to the train service, and medium term the electrification of the line.
A Caring Valley. Addressing the twin challenges of pensioner poverty and paying for social care.
