Labour's Legacy

It comes as no surprise to me sadly that the gap between rich and poor has grown since the 1970s. As anyone who grew up in the Valleys during the Thatcher era knows, the gap betwen rich and poor certainly grew then. But, it is a damning indictment on the Labour Government that on their watch the gap has grown even further as a major report out today indicates.

Having such a large gap between rich and poor is bad for society in general - because unequal socieites are less healthy, less happy, less sustainable.

In order for us to move to a more Scandinavian balance, and get rid of much of the griding poverty in our country we need major reform of our tax system, and further support for jobs that pay good money so that everybody can share in the wealth of the country.
