I was pleased to see Wales on Sunday carry my
letter on the shameful plans to introduce car parking charges for Mountain Ash. RCT have got this one badly wrong and I only hope that people of all political persuasions and none will contact the council to try and get them to rethink this plan. At a time of recession our town centres need our support not another kick in the teeth.

Whilst there is a need for equalisation of car parking charges in RCT, this is not the
time to do it.
We (and Mountain Ash) are in the
grip of a recession where jobs in
all sectors of life are being lost
by the minute.
Shopkeepers everywhere have been
struggling for a long time to keep open. Car parking charges could be
the last straw and our Valley towns
could become ghost-towns in a very short while.
A most depressing (but not unexpected) aspect of this proposal
is that NOT ONE SINGLE lABOUR
COUNCILLOR has had the guts to stand up before the public and account for the proposal. Shame on
them all!
Statements by a "spokesman" are just not good enough. By the way, notice that they get rise of 3.5%
on their allowances (£385 yearly) enough to pay for THEIR parking throughout RCT.)
